Hangul Lab teaches you to read and speak Korean. The reading course — the letters, syllable blocks, final consonants and sound-change rules — is free and stays free. Everyday phrases, slang, the daily brief and other subscriber features require an active subscription.
Subscriptions are sold and billed through the app store you installed from. The store, not us, processes your payment and holds your payment details. Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each period unless you cancel it at least 24 hours before it ends.
You cancel from your store account settings, not inside this app. Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep subscriber access until the end of the period you already paid for.
We check pronunciation and romanisation against the standard rules published by the National Institute of Korean Language, and every brief links to its source. Language still changes, and mistakes are possible. Tell us at the address below and we will correct them.
The lessons, audio and illustrations are ours to license to you for personal study. Please do not redistribute or resell them, or use automated tools to bulk-download the content.
If we change these terms in a way that materially affects you, we will tell you in the app before the change takes effect.
Because your subscription is billed by the app store, refunds are handled by that store. Requesting through the store is the fastest route and is usually resolved automatically.
A purchase can be refunded directly from Google Play within 48 hours of the transaction. After that window, request a refund through Google Play support, or contact us and we will support the request.
If a subscriber feature was unavailable or broken for a meaningful part of your billing period, write to us with the dates and we will ask the store to refund that period. We will not argue about a genuine fault on our side.
We do not pro-rate an unused part of a period you chose to cancel, because the store bills the period in advance. Your access continues to the end of it.
The reading course costs nothing, so there is nothing to refund for it. It keeps working whether or not you subscribe.
Your learning progress, your subscription state and the last brief you downloaded are stored on your device. They are not sent to us.
The app downloads the daily brief and lesson content from our content server. That request tells our host your IP address, as any web request does. We do not build a profile from it.
We do not sell your data, we do not run advertising trackers, and we do not ask for contacts, location, photos or your microphone.
The app store handles payment. We never see your card details.
Uninstalling the app removes everything it stored on your device. If you have written to us and want that correspondence deleted, ask at the address below.
